Submission Guidelines
What are we looking for?
At Flourish, we're looking for change-driven work that considers the route to positive impact in every step of the research process, from selecting a research question to writing concluding remarks.
We think that the most impactful research addresses questions within the most pressing problems/cause areas. Choosing which cause area to focus on will likely significantly influence how impactful your paper will be, and we broadly agree with the Effective Altruism approach of using an evidence-based framework to work out which are the most pressing problems to work on. Whilst the resources listed on this page recommend focusing on certain problems, we also welcome submissions that argue for priorities outside these research areas and challenge our assumptions about existing problems.

Explore the breadth and depth of a topic relevant to improving the world, including (but not limited to) literature reviews, comparative essays, policy analysis, etc.

Book Review

Short, descriptive, and argumentative papers on books related to the goals of Flourish. Reviews should include an overview of the book, its connection to Flourish themes, high points and flaws, and your personal opinion on the book.

Visual Art, Poetry or Other Written Art

Must relate to Flourish themes.

Review Process:
How do we select pieces for the Flourish Journal? We follow a double-blind peer review process, where submissions are first reviewed by students and recent graduates, and then by our High Level Expert Group. In addition, we work with authors to improve their work and prepare it for publication.
